Italian Sauce image

This is a basic Italian sauce that can be used in any dish, including lasagne, cannelloni, ravioli, etc. It's very easy and tastes so good! Also, it smells like heaven!

11 tomatoes, coarsely chopped
½ cup red wine vinegar
½ cup white sugar
1 ½ teaspoons paprika
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon crushed garlic
1 tablespoon crushed red pepper
1 cinnamon stick
4 whole cloves

Steps:

  • Puree tomatoes in blender or food processor until smooth. Pour into a large saucepan with the red wine vinegar, sugar, paprika, salt, garlic, crushed red pepper, cinnamon stick and cloves. Simmer over medium-low heat, covered, until thickened and flavors have blended, 15 to 20 minutes. Remove cinnamon stick and cloves before serving.
