Jodie's Taco salad image

On the surface this is a pretty straight-forward taco salad recipe... and then you get a taste of the dressing! The creative introduction of French dressing really adds an unexpected flavor that makes you wonder why you didn't think of that yourself!

TACO MEAT
1 1/2 lb hamburger (browned)
2 pkg taco seasoning mix (schilling)
SALAD MIX
1 large salad greens
1 large black olives (sliced and chilled)
1 pkg cherry tomatoes
1 large cucumber (english) sliced
1 large tortilla chips (corn,white, yellow,or blue)
1 medium monterey jack cheese (mexican, shredded)
DRESSING
1 small french dressing (catalina sub) (bottle)
1/2 c sour cream
1/2 c pico de gallo (or 1/2 jar picante)
1 tsp garlic

Steps:

  • 1. Brown meat and add taco seasoning (drain), chill in freezer for 10 minutes.
  • 2. Salad: In salad bowl, mix all salad ingredients except chips and cheese.
  • 3. Dressing: Mix all ingredients with whisk till well blended. Set aside.....
  • 4. Plate set up in this order: place a bed of chips on plate, salad mix, meat mix, dressing mix, sprinkle cheese on top and Enjoy............
