Lemon-Soy Dipping Sauce image

A quick simple sauce that pairs well with tempura.

Number Of Ingredients 5

1/2 c soy sauce
1/4 c fresh lemon juice
2 Tbsp mirin (sweet japanese rice wine)
2 Tbsp water
1 Tbsp dried bonito shavings (katsuo-bushi)

Steps:

  • 1. Combine soy sauce, lemon juice, mirin, 2 tablespoons water and bonito in small bowl. Let stand 30 minutes. Strain sauce through fine strainer; discard bonito shavings. (Can be made 4 hours ahead. Cover and let stand at room temperature.)
