These are a family favorite. They are always requested during holidays, special events and cookie exchanges. They always freeze extremely well and you would never know once they have thawed.

Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 c unsalted butter - softened
1 c oil (vegitable or canola)
1 c sugar
1 c confectioners' (powder) sugar
4 c all purpose flour
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2. Cream together the butter, oil and sugars.
  • 3. Add the eggs, one at a time. Then add the vanilla. Mix until nice and fluffy.
  • 4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, cream of tartar and baking soda.
  • 5. Add the flour mix to the butter mix, and combine until fluffy.
  • 6. Let the dough rest in the fridge for about 30 minutes or longer.
  • 7. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • 8. When ready to bake, drop the batter by the tablespoon onto the cookie sheet, about 2 inches apart. (A cookie dough scoop works best for perfect, uniform cookies).

These sugar cookies were a bit too sweet for my taste, but they were still good. I think I would use less sugar next time.

I've tried many sugar cookie recipes, but this one is by far the best. The cookies are so soft and flavorful. I love that they're not too sweet. I will definitely be making these again and again.
