MICROWAVE CARAMEL O-BARS image

This is another recipe from my 1987 Favorite Recipe cookbook.

Number Of Ingredients 9

14-16 oz caramel candies
1/4 c water
1/2 c peanut butter
4 c cheerios
1 c salted peanuts
TOPPING:
1 c chocolate chips
1/4 c peanut butter
2 Tbsp shortening

Steps:

  • 1. COMBINE CARAMELS, WATER, AND PEANUT BUTTER IN LARGE MIXING BOWL. MICROWAVE ON HIGH 3-5 MINUTES OR UNTIL MELTED AND SMOOTH, STIRRING AFTER EACH 2 MINUTES. STIR IN CEREAL AND PEANUTS.
  • 2. PRESS IN WELL BUTTERED 13X9 PAN. PLACE TOPPING INGREDIENTS IN A 2 CUP MEASURING DISH, MICROWAVE AT 50% (MEDIUM) 2 TO 4 MINUTES OR UNTIL CHIPS ARE SOFT. BLEND WELL AND SPREAD OVER BARS.
