This recipe came with my very first microwave 20+ years ago. It makes an easy, quick, no mess breakfast.

Time 3m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 slice bread, toasted
1 large egg
butter, to taste
salt, to taste

Steps:

  • Place the toast on a plate, butter it, flatten the middle down with the back of a fork.
  • Crack and carefully pour the egg into the flattened middle of the toast, not allowing it to spill over into the plate.
  • Prick the yolk quickly and carefully with the tines of the fork and bake in the microwave on a turntable for about 1 minute on 60-70% power, until the white is cooked through or desired doneness is achieved.

This is the best way to make poached eggs! I've tried other methods, but this one is the easiest and most consistent.

I've tried this recipe several times and I can't seem to get the eggs to poach properly. They always end up overcooked.

Not bad for a quick breakfast, but I prefer the traditional method of poaching eggs in a pan.

I was skeptical about microwaving an egg, but I was pleasantly surprised. The egg cooked evenly and the yolk was still runny. I'll definitely be making this again.

This recipe saved my life. I'm a terrible cook and I've never been able to poach an egg properly before. This method is foolproof and I'm so grateful for it.

Followed the recipe exactly and the poached egg came out overcooked. Not sure what went wrong.

This recipe is a game-changer for my quick and easy breakfast routine! The poached eggs turned out perfectly tender and flavorful, and the toast was the perfect crispy base. I'll definitely be making this again and again.
