Mushroom Cheese Puff Spirals image

These little babies are packed with wonderful flavor using the vegetable cream cheese spread! The chive kind is also good when wanting a mild onion flavor! Very good for parties and company!(Especially when you have a lot going on in the kitchen because they are easy to make but DELICIOUS!) Enjoy!! :D (photo by *Asha*)

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 oz. (half of an 8 oz. container) philly cream cheese garden vegetable spread, can also use the chive and onion or spinach and artichoke
1 (4 oz. ) can mushrooms, drained
1 Tbl. chopped onion
2 slices bacon, cooked and broken up
1/8 tsp. hot pepper sauce
1 (8 oz.) pkg. crescent roll dough

Steps:

  • 1. Process first five ingredients in food processor til blended and chopped. I just pulse til it's the consistency I want. Don't puree. Unroll crescent roll dough and separate into four rectangles. Press perforations together. Spread each rectangle with cream cheese mixture. Roll each up jelly-roll style starting with long sides. Cut each roll into 5 slices. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in 425ยบ oven for 8-11 minutes. Makes 20 appetizers. Serve warm. Feel free to play with this recipe. Sometimes I like to add roasted red bell peppers, or sun-dried tomatoes, or a little extra sharp cheese such as grated asiago! Just have fun! :D

I had some trouble getting the spirals to brown evenly. I think I needed to bake them for a little longer.

These spirals were a bit too cheesy for my taste. I think I would use less cheese next time.
