Steps:
- in lg mixer bowl combine 2 cups flour, yeast,salt - mix well - in saucepan heat 1 1/2 cups water, molasses, shortening & oat until very warm - shortening does not need to melt - add to flour mix - blend at lo speed until moistened - beat 3 mins @ med speed - by hand, stir in wh wht flour, nuts & enough remaining flour to make a firm dough - knead on floured surface 5-8 mins; slightly sticky - place in greased bowl - turn to grease top - cover - let rise in warm place about 15 mins for quick yeast - 30 mins for active - punch down dough - divide into 2 parts - - shape ea in round loaf or pan rolls - place round loaves on greased cookie sheet or pan rolls in 8" sq greased pan - cover - let rise in warm pl about 20 mins for quick yeast - 40 mins for active - combine 1 egg & 1 tbl water - brush tops - sprinkle with oats - bake 20 - 25 mins - remove fr pan - cool
