1 box orange cake mix
(plus eggs, oil and water called for on box)
1 box (3 oz.) orange gelatin
1 c boiling water
4 oz cream cheese, room temperature
2 Tbsp powdered sugar
1 c milk
1 box (3 1/2 oz.) instant vanilla pudding
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 tsp orange extract
1 8 oz. tub whipped topping, thawed

Steps:

  • 1. Prepare and bake cake according to box instructions for a 9"x13" glass pan.
  • 2. Immediately upon removing cake from oven, poke holes all over using a skewer or chopstick.

  • 7. Gradually beat in 1/4 of the cup of milk, until smooth.
  • 8. Gradually add remaining 3/4 cup milk and blend until smooth.

I had some trouble getting the cake to set properly. I think I might have overmixed the batter.

This cake is delicious, but it is a bit too sweet for my taste. Next time, I will use less sugar.

I added some fresh berries to the top of the cake for a pop of color and flavor.
