A brown betty is very similar to a crisp, a crumble, or a cobbler; instead of dough or other topping, this dessert is sprinkled with buttered breadcrumbs.

2 bags (16 ounces each) frozen sliced peaches, thawed
1/2 cup sugar
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
4 slices sandwich bread
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
