Categories     Bread     Sandwich     Breakfast

Yield 4 People

Number Of Ingredients 8

■12 slices of day old French bread sliced 1/2 inch thick
■2 tablespoons butter or non-stick cooking spray
■5 large eggs
■6 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
■1/2 cup cream
■1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
■4 tablespoons of you r favorite jam, jelly or preservatives (I chose strawberry preserves)
■powdered sugar

Steps:

  • 1. In a large bowl, mix the eggs, 4 tablespoons of the peanut butter, the cream and the vanilla extract with a whisk. Keep whisking; the peanut butter will eventually break down. 2. Heat the butter in a skillet over medium low heat. Dip the slices in the egg mixture and cook until egg sets on both sides. Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of peanut butter in the microwave oven for 1 minute. Then heat the jam or preserves in the microwave for 30 seconds. Drizzle the liquefied peanut butter and the liquefied jam over the cooked French toast. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Add crushed peanuts if you dare go crunchy.

I followed the recipe exactly and my French toast turned out perfect! It was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and the peanut butter and jelly filling was delicious.

This recipe was a bit too sweet for my taste, but I think it would be perfect for kids. I would also recommend using a different type of jelly, such as strawberry or grape.

This recipe is a great base, but I think it could be improved with a few additions. I would add some chopped nuts or fruit to the filling, and maybe a drizzle of syrup on top.

This was a good recipe, but I made a few changes. I used whole wheat bread instead of white bread, and I added a little bit of cinnamon and nutmeg to the egg mixture.
