Time 4h25m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 lb dried pinto beans
1 lb link sausage
1 lb ground beef
1 jar(s) picante sauce
2-3 tsp salt

Steps:

  • 1. The night before you want to cook these beans, wash beans and put in bowl. Add enough water to cover the beans. Cover with saran wrap and let soak overnight.
  • 2. The next morning rinse you beans. Put in a dutch oven over med heat. Add enough water to fill the dutch oven 3/4 full. Cook over medium heat until beans are very tender. While beans are cooking brown your hamburger meat in a skillet , drain and then set aside.
  • 3. Then add one jar of picante sauce. I use a homemade sauce that I buy locally but Pace or other brands work great. Add your browned hamburger meat, link sausage diced and salt. Cook another 1- 1 1/2 until done. Serve with cornbread.

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my beans turned out mushy. Maybe I cooked them for too long?
