Steps:
- 1. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat.
- 2. Sift flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt.
- 3. Add alternately with the buttermilk.
- 4. Add water and vanilla last.
- 5. Bake in a prepared 13x9 pan at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes. Can also be made in layers or in a tube pan.
