Steps:
- 1. Cook onion slowly in shortening til yellow. Remove onion and set aside.
- 2. Roll meat in mixture of flour, seasonings and spices. Brown in hot shortening. Add boiling water; simmer, covered, til meat is tender, about 1 hour. Add potatoes and cook for 10 minutes longer.
- 3. Roll pie dough into circle, about 1/4 inch thick. Make several openings for steam to escape. Pour meat and potatoes into greased 8 inch casserole. Cover with reserved onion. Fit pastry over top and seal edges. Bake at 450 for 25 to 30 minutes. Serves 6
