This recipe was originally found in the Betty Crocker New Boys & Girls Cookbook, and is the first I ever made outside my mom's kitchen. I added the coconut and nuts for variety when I made these for college friends. Although the recipe calls for greasing the baking sheet, in 37 years of baking I have never done this for cookies...

Steps:
- 1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease baking sheet.
- 2. Stir flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and ginger together in bowl.
- 3. Mix in sugar and oats.
- 4. Mix in vegetable oil, milk, and egg.
- 5. Add nuts or coconut if desired.
- 6. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart on baking sheet.
- 7. Bake 10 minutes.
