~ Strawberry Cobbler ~ image

Hubby brings me a huge bag of frozen strawberries from the freezer and said his sweet tooth was acting up and was there something I could whip up. So, I decided to go online and search for something I thought would appeal to him. Being he's a big cobbler fan, that's what I decided to search for. Low and behold I found this...

Time 50m

Number Of Ingredients 8

3 c fresh or frozen strawberries, thawed - if using fresh, cut into fourths
2 c sugar, divided - original recipe called for 1 cup sugar for fresh strawberries and 1/2 cup for frozen. i used 3/4 cup and was just right
1 stick butter
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 c flour
3/4 c milk
2 Tbsp sugar - i didn't use for the top

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degree F. Combine strawberries and 3/4 c. sugar. *Original recipe called for 1/2 cup for frozen - 1 cup for fresh. Place butter in a 9 x 13 baking dish and melt in oven. In a bowl, mix together flour, 1 cup sugar, salt, and baking powder. Stir in milk until smooth.
  • 2. Pour batter into melted butter and do not stir. Pour strawberry mixture evenly over batter and do not stir. Bake for 45 minutes and let cool 5 minutes then sprinkle with 2 tablespoons sugar. * I did not use this sugar.
  • 3. Serve with whipped cream, ice cream or alone. We ate ours warm. Yummy!

This was the worst strawberry cobbler I've ever had. The crust was soggy and the filling was runny. I would not recommend this recipe to anyone.

This cobbler was just okay. The crust was a little tough, and the filling was a bit bland. I think I would have liked it better if I had used fresh strawberries instead of frozen.
