The Chewy Oatmeal Raisin Cookie image

This came from a magazine many years ago, and the folks at Crisco must have sponsored it because there is a pict of the crisco tub on the recipie. At the bottom of the recipie it says from the Silver Palate Cookbook. These also are a softer cookie.

3/4 c butter flavored crisco
1 1/4 c firmly packed brown sugar
1 large egg
1/3 c milk
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
3 c quaker quick oats, not instant or old fashioned
1 c all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1 c raisins
1 c chopped walnuts, optional

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 375°
  • 2. Spray baking sheet with non stick spray.
  • 3. Cream together the Butter Flavor Crisco, brown sugar, egg, milk and vanilla in a large bowl.Beat at med speed until well blended.
  • 4. Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt together.
  • 5. Combine oats, flour mixture and cinnamon.
  • 6. Stir in raisins, and nuts if using them.
  • 7. Mix into creamed mixture at low speed just until blended.
  • 8. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto greased baking sheet and bake 10 to 12 minutes, or until lightly browned.
