TROPICAL DUMP CAKE image

Pinched from facebook posting to my page. Yummy. This cake is crunchy on top and wet on the bottom so a cake tester doesn't work well. One hour baking was perfect. Already a family favorite. My first orange cake tried!

Time 1h15m

1 can(s) 20 oz crushed pineapple
1 can(s) 15 oz tropical fruit
1 box orange cake mix
1 1/2 stick butter melted
1/2 c instant oatmeal * see note*
1 c coconut

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350

  • 7. (Note: I used a small pkg of instant apple cinnamon oatmeal..yummy)

I'm not sure what went wrong with my dump cake. It turned out dense and gummy. I think I might have overmixed the batter.

This dump cake was a total flop. The cake was dry and crumbly, and the pineapple was too tart. I won't be making this recipe again.

This cake was a bit too sweet for my taste, but my kids loved it. I think I'll try using less sugar next time.
