Warm Brie and Berry Dip in Sourdough Loaf image

I have made this for many years. At Christmas time I replace the blueberries/raspberries with cranberries for a festive look.

Time 1h10m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 large sourdough loaf
2 lb brie cheese, trimmed & cubed
1/4 c brown sugar
1/2 c pecans, chopped & toasted
1/2 c pine nuts, toasted
1/2 c blueberries
1/2 c raspberries

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Slice the top off the bread. Save the top and hollow out the inside of the loaf by taking out large chunks of bread. Save bread chunks to serve later.
  • 2. Combine brie, nuts, brown sugar and berries. Place inside the hollowed out loaf and cover with the bread top. Wrap the whole thing in foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  • 3. Serve with baguette slices, reserved chunks of bread, crackers or veggies.

Overall, I thought this recipe was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing either.

This dip was a bit too runny for my taste. I think I would have preferred it if the brie had been melted more.

This recipe was a bit too sweet for my taste. I think I would have preferred it with a different type of jam.

I'm not a big fan of brie, but this dip was surprisingly good. The berries and jam really helped to balance out the flavor.
