Yield 1

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 lemon, halved
3 tablespoons superfine sugar
1 lemon wedge
2 fluid ounces whiskey
1 fluid ounce orange liqueur
ice

Steps:

  • Set oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source and preheat the oven's broiler. Place lemon halves, cut-side up, on a baking sheet.
  • Broil until lemon halves are blackened on the cut side, about 10 minutes. Allow lemons to cool enough to handle. Squeeze juice from the lemons into a measuring cup. Measure out 3/4 fluid ounce broiled lemon juice, reserving the rest for another use.
  • Pour sugar into a shallow bowl. Run lemon wedge around the rim of a cocktail glass; dip into sugar.
  • Combine whiskey, orange liqueur, and 3/4 fluid ounce broiled lemon juice in a cocktail shaker and add ice; cover and shake for 20 seconds. Strain drink into the prepared cocktail glass.

This cocktail is way too sweet for my taste. I would recommend using less Cointreau or adding more lemon juice.

I followed the recipe exactly and my cocktail didn't turn out as good as the picture. The lemon flavor was too overpowering.

This cocktail is a bit too strong for my taste. I would recommend using less whiskey or adding more lemon juice and Cointreau.

I'm not a big fan of whiskey, but I really enjoyed this cocktail. The lemon juice and Cointreau balance out the whiskey flavor perfectly.

This cocktail is a great way to use up leftover lemon juice. I always have a few lemons on hand and this is a great way to use them up before they go bad.
