The almond extract, in combination with the orange glaze is divine! It's really moist and flavorful - and it smells great, too.

BREAD
3 c all purpose flour
2 1/4 c granulated sugar
1 1/2 Tbsp poppy seeds
1 1/2 Tbsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
3 eggs, lightly beaten
1 1/2 c milk
1 c vegetable oil
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 tsp almond extract
1 1/2 tsp butter extract
GLAZE
3/4 c granulated sugar
1/4 c orange juice

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • 2. Combine the first five ingredients. Add eggs, milk, oil and extracts. Pour into two greased loaf pans. Bake for 60-65 min. Cool completely in pans. Loosen the loaves if necessary to make removal after glaze is applied easier.
  • 3. In a saucepan, bring glaze ingredients to a boil. Pour over loaves in their pans. Cool for 5 minutes. Remove loaves from pans and cool completely on wire racks. Place cookie sheet under racks to catch any drips.
