Steps:
- 1. in a pan, mix 1 cup sugar, water, 3 tablespoons butter and 1/4 teaspoons cinnamon. Bring to a boil. Boil for three minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- 2. Roll pastry into a 21" x 14" rectangle. Cut into six 7 inch squares. Place one Apple in the center of each square. Mix the remaining sugar and cinnamon. Spoon into center of apples. Dot with remaining butter. Moistened edges of pastry. Fold corners to the center of top Apple. Pinch to seal. Place an ungreased 13 x 9" baking dish. Pour syrup mixture around apples. Bake at 375° for 45 minutes or until pastry is golden brown and apples are tender. Serve warm. Makes six servings
- 3. pastry for single crust pie: 1 1/4 cup flour 1/2 teaspoons salt 1/3 cup shortening 4 to 5 tablespoons cold water in a bowl, mix flour and salt. Cut in shortening until crumbly. Gradually add water, toss them with a fork until dough forms a ball. Roll out to set a 9 inch or 10 inch pie plate. Transfer pastry to pie plate. Turn pastry to 1/2 inch be on the edge of plate. Flute edges. Fill or bake shell according to recipe directions
