Apricot Squares image

This recipe was given to me many years ago by a neighbor. It is really Delicious! I sometimes use raspberry filling without seeds of course and it is just as yummy.

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 c sugar
3/4 c shortening (crisco)
1 medium egg
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 c flaked cocunut
2 c plus 1 tablespoon flour
1 tsp vanilla flavoring
1/2 c walnuts
1 jar(s) apricot jam (10 oz.)

Steps:

  • 1. Mix all ingredients except for Jam. Place half of mixture in pan, spread evenly in 8x8 or 9x9 square pan. Then spread the jam evenly over mixture,cover with remainder of mix.
  • 2. Cook at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. (If glass square baking dish is used check at 25-30 minutes.)
