1 1/2 lb asparagus
1/2 tsp salt (optional)
1/4 c butter, melted
1/2 c grated gruyere cheese

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • 2. Cut or break off tough ends of asparagus. Wash asparagus in cool running water, and drain well. Arrange asparagus in single layer in ungreased 11x7-inch baking dish. Sprinkle with salt (if using). Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350°F for 25 minutes or until asparagus is tender.
  • 3. Drizzle melted butter over asparagus; sprinkle cheese on top. Return baking dish to oven for another 5 to 8 minutes, or until the cheese softens.

I'm not a huge fan of asparagus, but this dish was actually pretty good. The gruyere added a nice flavor and the asparagus was cooked well.
