Baked Bananas image

This is a dessert commonly served in the Caribbean Islands and Central America. And it's quite easy to prepare, and so delicious.

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 large bananas
1 large lime, juiced
1 Tbsp dark rum
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
1 Tbsp dark brown sugar
1 Tbsp butter (optional)
2 scoop(s) vanilla ice cream (or 2 tablespoons of fresh cream)
shredded coconut, for garnish (optional)
chopped nuts, for garnish (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Butter a 9x13x2-inch ovenproof baking dish; set aside.
  • 2. Peel the bananas and slice in half lengthwise. Lay the pieces in a single layer in the buttered baking dish.
  • 3. Pour the lime juice and rum evenly over the bananas. Sprinkle on the cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar. Dot on the butter, if using.
  • 4. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • 5. Serve hot, topped with ice cream, and garnish with shredded coconut and/or chopped nuts.
