Baking Powder Biscuits, Aunt Annie Boule's image

This was one of Grandpa W's sisters, and she was known for these yummy rolls. I didn't get many recipes from that side of the family, but this is one I'm definitely glad to have!

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 c flour
4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp salt
2 Tbsp sugar
1/2 c shortening
1 egg, unbeaten
2/3 c milk

Steps:

  • 1. Sift flour, powder, salt, sugar and tartar together into bowl. Add shortening and blend together to a cornmeal consistency. Pour milk into flour mixture slowly. Add egg and stir to a stiff dough. Knead 5 times. Roll to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with 1 1/2 inch round cutter. Bake on cookie sheet 10 min at 450 degrees.
