Steps:
- Adjust the oven rack to the middle position and preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 9x13 cake pan. Using a fine grater or micro-plane, shave the chocolate squares. Reserve 1/4 cup for the topping. To make the cake, place the first 7 ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix on medium-high until smooth. Add the pecans and chocolate chips and mix on low speed until well combined. Using a rubber spatula, fold in the chocolate shavings. Pour the batter into the cake pan and bake for 45 minutes. Remove to a cooling rack and cool completely before icing. To make the icing, beat the butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla on low speed until the sugar begins to combine with the other ingredients. Increase the speed to medium-high and mix until smooth. Add the pecans and beat until incorporated. Spread the icing on the cooled cake and sprinkle with the remaining 1/4 cup chocolate shavings.
