Ted Turner shared this better-than-beef burger recipe with Martha. Bison meat tastes similar to beef, but is leaner. Cook them up and give them a generous sprinkling of Ted's Special Spice Mixture and a slice of cheddar.

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 pounds freshly ground bison meat
3 teaspoons Ted's Special Spice Mixture
4 cornmeal-dusted kaiser rolls, split
8 slices cheddar
4 leaves iceberg lettuce
4 slices vine-ripened tomato

Steps:

  • Preheat a griddle to medium-high. Make 4 equal-size hamburger patties from the ground bison meat, taking care not to overwork the patties.
  • Season both sides of each patty with 1/4 teaspoon of Ted's Special Spice Mixture, and place on griddle. Cover the burgers with a stainless steel bowl or other heat-proof, dome-shape object, and cook for 6 minutes. Turn the burgers over, and season the top of each burger again with 1/4 teaspoon of the spice mixture. Cover with the dome and continue to cook for 4 to 5 minutes, for medium.
  • Place 2 cheese slices on each burger and cook until the cheese melts. Butter the cut side of the rolls and place, cut side down, on the griddle. Cook until lightly toasted. Serve each burger on a roll with 1 lettuce leaf and 1 tomato slice per burger.

Meh. They were okay, but I've had better. The burgers were a bit too greasy for my taste.

These burgers were a game-changer! I'm used to beef burgers, but these bison burgers were so much better. The meat was so flavorful and juicy, and the spices were perfect. I'll definitely be making these again.

Just ok. The burgers were a bit dry and the flavor was just so-so. I don't think I'll be making these again.

Amazing! These bison burgers are the best I've ever had. The meat was so tender and juicy, and the flavor was out of this world. I'll definitely be making these again and again.

Not bad, but not great either. The burgers were a bit bland and the texture was a bit too dense for my liking.

Meh. They were okay, but I've had better bison burgers. The meat was a bit too gamey for my taste.

These burgers were amazing! So juicy and flavorful. I made them with sweet potato fries and a side of coleslaw, and it was a perfect meal.

Not a fan. The bison burgers were a bit dry and lacked flavor. I think I'll stick to beef burgers in the future.

Just made these bison burgers and they were fantastic! I added a bit of extra Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder, and they turned out perfectly. Will definitely be making these again.
