TWENTY MINUTE BUNS

Twenty Minute Buns image

Very quick and simple. Nothing is better than fresh hamburger buns. This is a very sticky dough that requires very little kneading.

Provided by Debbie

Categories     Bread     Yeast Bread Recipes     Rolls and Buns

Time 1h20m

Yield 18

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 tablespoons fast-rising yeast
¼ cup white sugar
2 cups warm water
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
6 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons salt
1 egg white
2 tablespoons water

Steps:

  • In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.
  • Add oil, 2 cups of flour and the salt; stir well to combine. Add the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, stirring well after each addition. When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes. Lightly oil a large bowl, place the dough in the bowl and turn to coat with oil. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled in volume, about 40 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and divide into three equal pieces. Divide each big piece into 6 small ones. Form the pieces into rounds. Place the rounds into the prepared pan. Cover the rolls with a damp cloth or plastic wrap and let rise until doubled in volume, about 20 minutes.
  • Beat together the egg white and water. Gently brush the risen rolls with the egg wash and then bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 15 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown.

Categories     bread

Number Of Ingredients 7

3 1/2-4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 Tbsp instant dry yeast
1 1/2 cups warm water
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 egg
1 tsp salt

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of the flour, the sugar and yeast. In another bowl, whisk together the water, oil and egg. Add to the flour mixture and stir until well blended. Add the remaining flour and salt, stirring until the dough comes together.
  • Knead for 5-7 minutes, scattering some extra flour on your countertop if it needs it, until the dough is smooth and elastic. Let sit and rise for 15 minutes, then punch the dough down and let it rise for another 15 minutes.
  • Punch the dough down again and shape it into buns about half the size you want them to be once baked. Place them close together in a buttered or parchment-lined 9-x13-inch baking dish, cover with a tea towel and let them rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled in bulk.
  • Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 350F. Bake the buns for 15-18 minutes, or until deep golden. Makes about 1 1/2 dozen buns.

Provided by My Food and Family

Categories     Home

Number Of Ingredients 8

0.5 cups sugar
0.5 cups shortening
2 units eggs
1 cups water
2 packages dry yeast
1 cups water
1 tablespoons salt
6 cups flour

Steps:

  • In large bowl, cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and beat well. Add boiling water and mix together. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add to egg mixture. Stir in salt and flour. Knead thoroughly.
  • Take dough out of bowl & spray bowl with vegetable oil spray - also spray some plastic wrap or the large bowl's lid to prevent sticking. Cover. Place in warm area for 1 hour to let rise.
  • Shape into buns or rolls. (I make cinnamon rolls by rolling out the dough flat - butter the dough with softened butter, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Roll up the long way. Using a piece of thread, cut into rolls.)
  • Put on greased cookie sheets about 2 inches apart (I get about 3 across and 4 down) - cover with towels and let rise another 1 hour.
  • Bake in a 400 degree F oven for approximately 15 minutes - or until light golden brown.

2 HOUR BREAD & BUNS - ELLISON'S FLOUR FROM COSTCO RECIPE - (3.9/5)

2 Hour Bread & Buns - Ellison's flour from Costco Recipe - (3.9/5) image

Provided by Conminster

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 tbsp instant yeast
4 cups Flour ( I use Ellison's flour from Costco)
2 eggs
8 tbsp sugar
6 tbsp oil
3 cups luke warm water
3-4 cups flour
1 tsp salt

Steps:

  • In large bowl #1, mix instant yeast and the 4 cups of flour thoroughly and set aside. In large bowl #2,mix flour and salt together, set aside. In large bowl #3, beat eggs, sugar, oil and add the luke warm water. Once combined, add the dry yeast and flour mixture from bowl #1 and beat thoroughly. Add remaining flour and salt from bowl #2 until dough has formed. Knead for 5 minutes. Put in a greased bowl and let the dough rise for 15 minutes. Punch down and let it rise again for another 15 minutes. Make into buns, cinnamon buns, bread or rolls and let rise 1 hour. Bake in a 350F OVEN FOR 12-20 minutes until golden brown.

Tips:

  • Activate the yeast properly: Always check the expiration date on your yeast packet. Active dry yeast should be foamy when dissolved in warm water, while instant yeast can be added directly to the flour.
  • Use fresh ingredients: The fresher your ingredients, the better your buns will taste. This includes the flour, water, yeast, sugar, salt, and butter.
  • Knead the dough properly: Kneading the dough develops the gluten, which gives the buns their structure and chewiness. Knead the dough for at least 5 minutes, or until it is smooth and elastic.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place: The dough needs to rise in a warm place in order to activate the yeast and allow the dough to double in size. This usually takes about 1 hour.
  • Shape the buns properly: There are many different ways to shape buns, such as round, square, or braided. Make sure to shape the buns evenly so that they bake evenly.
  • Bake the buns at the right temperature: The buns should be baked at a high temperature, such as 400 degrees Fahrenheit, for about 15 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
  • Let the buns cool before serving: Let the buns cool for a few minutes before serving. This will help to prevent them from falling apart.

Conclusion:

These 2-hour buns are a delicious and versatile bread that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They are perfect for sandwiches, burgers, or simply served with butter and jam. With a few simple tips, you can make perfect 2-hour buns every time. So next time you're in the mood for fresh, homemade bread, give this recipe a try!
