Number Of Ingredients 19

½ cup milk- warmed to 100-110F
2 tbsp granulated sugar
1 packet active dry yeast ((2¼ tsp) )
3 tbsp butter (melted)
1 large egg
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
oil for spraying
1 can flaky buttermilk biscuits
oil for spraying
1 cup nonfat Greek yogurt
1 cup self-rising flour (+ more for dusting)
oil for spraying
½ cup granulated sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
4 tbsp butter (melted (optional, see notes))
2 ounces chocolate (chopped)
3 ounces heavy cream (6 tbsp)

Steps:

  • Combine the milk, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl. Allow the mixture to sit for 5 minutes, or until the yeast becomes foamy on top. If your yeast doesn't foam, it's likely dead. Toss it and try again with a fresh packet.
  • Add the melted butter, egg, and vanilla. Whisk to combine.
  • Add the flour and cinnamon and stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  • Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead gently until a smooth dough forms-- about 2-3 minutes.
  • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and set it in a warm spot to rise until doubled in size-- about 2 hours.
  • Once the dough has risen, place it on a lightly floured surface (don't punch it down) and cut it into 20 small pieces. Shape the dough into balls and place them on a baking sheet to rise for another 45 minutes.
  • Once the dough has risen slightly, place a few doughnut holes in the air fryer, give them a light mist/spray of oil and cook at 375F for 6-8 minutes, or until they're golden brown on the outside.
  • Repeat with the remaining doughnut holes.
  • **See below for coating
  • Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees.
  • Separate the biscuits and cut them into 4 pieces each.
  • Lightly roll between your hands to reshape them into holes instead of triangles.
  • Place them in the preheated air fryer basket and spray lightly with oil.
  • Cook 4-5 minutes or until browned and cooked through.
  • While the dough is cooking, combine the sugar and cinnamon in a paper lunch sack. You can use a plastic zip-top bag if you don't have one. Shake to combine the cinnamon and sugar.
  • Once the donut holes are done cooking, give them another light spritz of oil and then immediately transfer them to the bag with the cinnamon mixture.
  • Fold over the bag & give it a good shake to coat the donuts in the mixture.
  • Remove from the bag and serve immediately. Do not store them in the bag as they will become soggy.
  • Combine the yogurt and self-rising flour in a large bowl and work it together until it forms a ball.
  • Turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 1-2 minutes to get the gluten forming so they are extra springy.
  • Cut off 1" pieces and roll into balls.

  • Remove from the bag and serve immediately. Do not store them in the bag as they will become soggy.
  • Combine the sugar and cinnamon in a large bowl. If you like a thin coating of cinnamon sugar, roll the hot doughnuts in the cinnamon sugar immediately when they come out of the air fryer.
  • If you like a thick coating of cinnamon sugar, roll the doughnut holes in melted butter before adding them to the cinnamon sugar.
  • To make the chocolate sauce, heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan (or the microwave) until it starts to steam.
  • Add it to a small bowl with the chopped chocolate.
  • Whisk until the sauce is smooth and well combined.
  • Serve with warm doughnuts.

Time 2h4m

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 cup milk (lukewarm (about 100°F)°)
2 1/2 tsp active dry yeast (or instant yeast)
1/4 cup granulated sugar (plus 1 tsp)
1/2 tsp salt
1 egg
1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
3 cups all-purpose flour
Oil Spray (Coconut oil works best)
6 Tbsp unsalted butter
2 cups powdered sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
4 Tbsp hot water (or as needed)

Steps:

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook, gently stir together lukewarm milk, 1 tsp of sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes until foamy (If nothing happens your milk was too hot or the yeast is too old, so start over).
  • Add sugar, salt, egg, melted butter and 2 cups of flour to the milk mixture. Mix on low speed until combined, then with the mixer running add the remaining cup of flour slowly, until the dough no longer sticks to the bowl. Increase speed to medium-low and knead for 5 minutes, until the dough is elastic and smooth.
  • Place the dough into a greased bowl and cover it with plastic wrap. Let rise in a warm place until doubled. Dough is ready if you make a dent with your finger and the indention remains.
  • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface, punch it down and gently roll out to about 1/2 inch thickness. Cut out 10-12 donuts using a 3-inch round cutter and a 1-inch round cutter to remove center.
  • Transfer donuts and donut holes to lightly floured parchment paper and cover loosely with greased plastic wrap. Let donuts rise until doubled in volume, about 30 minutes. Preheat Air Fryer to 350F.
  • Spray Air Fryer basket with oil spray, carefully transfer donuts to Air Fryer basket in a single layer. Spray donuts with oil spray and cook at 350F until golden brown, about 4 minutes. Repeat with remaining donuts and holes.
  • While the donuts are in the Air Fryer, melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir in powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth. Remove from heat and stir in hot water one tablespoon at a time until the icing is somewhat thin, but not watery. Set aside.
  • Dip hot donuts and donut holes in the glaze using to forks to submerge them. Place on a wire rack set over a rimmed baking sheet to allow excess glaze to drip off. Let sit until glaze hardens, about 10 minutes.

Time 2h40m

Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 22

For the donuts
Cooking spray
1/2 c. milk
1/4 c. plus 1 tsp. granulated sugar, divided
1 (0.25-oz.) packet or 2 1/4 tsp. active-dry yeast
2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
4 tbsp. butter, melted
1 large egg
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
For the vanilla glaze
1 c. powdered sugar
2 oz. milk
1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
For the chocolate glaze
3/4 c. powdered sugar
1/4 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
3 tbsp. milk
For the cinnamon sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 tbsp. ground cinnamon
2 tbsp. melted butter

Steps:

  • Grease a large bowl with cooking spray. In a small, microwave-safe bowl or glass measuring cup, add milk. Microwave until lukewarm, 40 seconds. Add a teaspoon of sugar and stir to dissolve, then sprinkle over yeast and let sit until frothy, about 8 minutes.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour and salt. In a large bowl, whisk together remaining ¼ cup sugar, butter, egg, and vanilla. Pour in yeast mixture, mix to combine, then add in dry ingredients, stirring with a wooden spoon until a shaggy dough forms.
  • Transfer to a lightly floured surface and knead until elastic and only slightly tacky, adding more flour a teaspoon at a time if needed, about 5 minutes. Form into a ball then place dough in oiled bowl and cover with a clean dish towel. Let dough rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  • Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease with cooking spray. Punch down dough, then turn onto a lightly floured work surface and roll out into a ½" thick rectangle.
  • Using a doughnut cutter or 3" and 1" biscuit cutters, punch out your doughnuts. Knead any scraps together and punch out more doughnuts or holes. Place doughnuts and holes onto baking sheets, cover with dish towel, and let rise again, 40 minutes to 1 hour more.
  • Grease basket of air fryer with cooking spray and add 2 doughnuts and 2 doughnut holes at a time, making sure doughnuts don't touch. Cook at 375° for 6 minutes, until deeply golden. Place on cooling rack and repeat with remaining dough.
  • Dip doughnuts in glaze (see below) or follow instructions for cinnamon sugar. Return to cooling rack and let set for 5 minutes before serving.
  • In a medium bowl whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  • In a medium bowl whisk together powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and milk.
  • In a large shallow bowl, whisk together cinnamon and sugar. Brush doughnuts with melted butter and toss in cinnamon sugar.

Tips:

  • For a crispy donut, use self-rising flour and baking powder.
  • For a softer donut, use all-purpose flour and baking powder.
  • Add a teaspoon of sugar to the donut batter for a sweeter flavor.
  • Use a piping bag or ziplock bag with the corner snipped off to create donut shapes.
  • To prevent the donuts from sticking to the air fryer basket, spray it with cooking oil or use parchment paper.
  • Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket. Cook the donuts in batches if necessary.
  • Cook the donuts until they are golden brown and cooked through. This usually takes around 5-7 minutes.
  • Dust the donuts with powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar, or your favorite topping.
  • Enjoy the donuts warm or at room temperature.

Conclusion:

These 2-ingredient air fryer donuts are a quick and easy way to satisfy your donut cravings. With just a few simple ingredients and a few minutes of cooking time, you can have delicious, fluffy donuts that are perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert.
