Tips:

  • For the perfect hard-boiled eggs, start with cold eggs and bring them to a rapid boil. Then, cover the pot and remove it from the heat. Let the eggs sit in the hot water for 15 minutes, then drain and rinse them with cold water.
  • To make peeling the eggs easier, add a teaspoon of baking soda to the boiling water.
  • To make the eggs easier to mash, use a potato masher or a fork. If you're using a food processor, be careful not to over-process the eggs, or they'll become too smooth.
  • For a classic deviled egg filling, combine mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, salt, and pepper. You can also add other ingredients like chopped pickles, relish, or herbs.
  • To make your deviled eggs more devilish, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or Sriracha sauce to the filling.
  • For a more elegant presentation, pipe the filling into the egg whites using a pastry bag fitted with a star tip.
  • Garnish the deviled eggs with paprika, chopped chives, or crumbled bacon.
