Tips:

  • Use ripe tomatoes: For the best flavor, use ripe, in-season tomatoes. You can also use canned tomatoes if fresh tomatoes are not available.
  • Roast the tomatoes: Roasting the tomatoes intensifies their flavor and sweetness. If you don't have time to roast the tomatoes, you can also use sun-dried tomatoes.
  • Use a high-quality olive oil: The olive oil you use will make a big difference in the flavor of the sauce. Use a good-quality extra virgin olive oil.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When you're cooking the sauce, don't overcrowd the pan. This will prevent the sauce from cooking evenly.
  • Simmer the sauce for at least 30 minutes: Simmering the sauce for at least 30 minutes allows the flavors to meld and develop.
  • Taste the sauce and adjust the seasonings: Before serving the sauce, taste it and adjust the seasonings as needed. You may want to add more salt, pepper, or garlic.
