AGAVE-SWEETENED ORANGE TEA

If desired, top with a dash of club soda. As a point of interest, agave nectar has a cleaner, lighter taste than honey and it also doesn't spike sugar levels as does honey. Now that I've got you hooked on agave nectar, go make recipe #453425.

ORANGE PEKOE LEMONADE

Try this refreshingly juicy variation on the fresh-brewed iced tea.

Provided by Martha Stewart

Categories     Food & Cooking     Drink Recipes

Number Of Ingredients 5

3/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice, (about 5 lemons)
1/2 cup honey
3 cups freshly brewed Orange Pekoe tea, chilled
1 cup water, cold
Lemon wedges, for garnish

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine lemon juice and honey; stir until honey has completely dissolved. Transfer to a large pitcher. Add tea and 1 cup cold water; stir. Fill pitcher with ice; garnish with the lemon wedges. Serve.

Tips:

  • When selecting oranges for your tea, choose ripe, juicy oranges with a deep orange color. Avoid oranges that are bruised or have blemishes.
  • To get the most flavor from your orange zest, use a Microplane grater to finely grate the zest. Avoid using a regular grater, as this will remove too much of the white pith, which can make your tea bitter.
  • If you don't have a Microplane grater, you can use a vegetable peeler to create long, thin strips of zest. Just be sure to remove the white pith before using the zest in your tea.
  • When brewing your tea, use freshly boiled water. Cold water will not extract as much flavor from the tea leaves.
  • Steep your tea for the recommended amount of time. Over-steeping can make your tea bitter.
  • Serve your tea immediately after brewing. Tea that has been sitting for a long time will lose its flavor.

Conclusion:

Orange Orange Pekoe tea is a refreshing and flavorful tea that can be enjoyed hot or iced. With its combination of orange and black tea, it is a great choice for tea lovers of all ages. Whether you are looking for a morning pick-me-up or a relaxing afternoon treat, Orange Orange Pekoe tea is sure to please.
