AIR FRYER JALAPEñO POPPERS WITH BACON

Air Fryer Jalapeño Poppers with Bacon image

These bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers were my dad's go-to party recipe and always a huge hit! He baked them in the oven, but I've discovered they cook in the air fryer in less than one-fourth of the time!

Provided by Jaymee Sire

Categories     side-dish

Time 30m

Yield 10 large or 20 small jalapeño poppers

Number Of Ingredients 5

5 large jalapeños (or 10 small to medium jalapeños)
4 to 6 ounces cream cheese, softened slightly
10 slices thick-cut bacon
1/4 cup chopped cilantro (optional)
Juice from 1/2 lime (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat an air fryer to 375 degrees F (if preheating is necessary; see Cook's Note for oven directions).
  • Slice each jalapeño in half lengthwise and remove the ribs and seeds (see Cook's Note). Using a small rubber spatula or spoon, fill the jalapeño halves with the cream cheese. If using large jalapeños, wrap each half with 1 slice of the bacon, tucking in the ends. (If using smaller jalapeños, cut each slice of bacon in half crosswise before wrapping.)
  • Place the jalapeños (cream cheese side up) in a single layer in the air fryer and cook for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the bacon is cooked through and crispy.
  • Allow to cool slightly and sprinkle with the cilantro and lime juice, if using, and serve!

Tips:

  • Choose the right jalapeños: Look for medium-sized jalapeños that are firm and have a deep green color. Avoid jalapeños that are too large or have blemishes.
  • Wear gloves when handling jalapeños: The capsaicin in jalapeños can irritate your skin, so it's important to wear gloves when handling them. If you do get capsaicin on your skin, wash it off with soap and water immediately.
  • Remove the seeds and ribs from the jalapeños: This will help to reduce the heat of the jalapeños. You can use a spoon or a paring knife to remove the seeds and ribs.
  • Stuff the jalapeños with your favorite fillings: You can use a variety of fillings for your jalapeño poppers, such as cheese, meat, or vegetables. Be creative and experiment with different flavors.
  • Wrap the jalapeños in bacon: This will help to keep the fillings inside the jalapeños and will also add a delicious smoky flavor.
  • Cook the jalapeño poppers in the air fryer: The air fryer is a great way to cook jalapeño poppers because it cooks them evenly and quickly. You can also use a regular oven, but you will need to adjust the cooking time.

Conclusion:

Air fryer bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or snack. They are perfect for parties or gatherings, and they can also be enjoyed as a quick and tasty meal. With a variety of fillings to choose from, there is sure to be a jalapeño popper that everyone will enjoy. So next time you're looking for a fun and flavorful appetizer, give air fryer bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers a try.
