AIR FRYER HONEYNUT SQUASH

Air Fryer Honeynut Squash image

Honeynut squashes are the tiny brown squashes that look kind of like miniature butternut squashes. The flesh is a bit darker and very sweet. This simple preparation is easy, delicious, and makes a fun presentation for dinner guests on Thanksgiving or for any fall or winter meal. I made mine in my Ninja® Foodi™ digital air fryer, and my instructions are rather specific for that configuration. Adapt accordingly for your oven or air fryer, which also may need to be preheated (the Ninja® Foodi™ heats so fast that no preheating is needed).

Tips:

  • Choose the right type of squash for air frying. Small, firm squash with thin skin, such as butternut squash, acorn squash, or delicata squash, work best.
  • Cut the squash into evenly sized pieces so they cook evenly.
  • Toss the squash with a little oil, salt, and pepper before air frying. This will help it crisp up and brown.
  • Air fry the squash at a high temperature (400 degrees Fahrenheit or higher) for a shorter amount of time. This will help it retain its nutrients and flavor.
  • Shake the squash basket halfway through cooking to ensure even cooking.
  • Once the squash is cooked, let it cool slightly before handling it.

Conclusion:

Air frying is a quick and easy way to cook squash. It results in a tender, flavorful vegetable that can be enjoyed as a side dish or added to salads, soups, and stews. With a little experimentation, you can find the perfect way to air fry squash to your liking.
