Time 1h20m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 12

¼ teaspoon olive oil
1 clove garlic, minced
¼ cup soy sauce
½ lemon, juiced
1 teaspoon honey
½ teaspoon olive oil
⅓ teaspoon packed brown sugar
¼ teaspoon sea salt, plus more for garnish
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper, plus more for garnish
¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
4 (6 ounce) fillets salmon
1 tablespoon olive oil

Steps:

  • Heat 1/4 teaspoon olive oil in a small skillet over medium-high heat. Saute garlic in hot oil until just beginning to brown.
  • Mix sauteed garlic, soy sauce, lemon juice, honey, 1/2 teaspoon olive oil, brown sugar, sea salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes together in a bowl; pour into a large resealable plastic bag. Add salmon fillets, turning to coat with the marinade, squeeze bag to remove excess air, and seal the bag. Marinate in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  • Remove salmon from the marinade and shake to remove excess liquid. Reserve 3 tablespoons marinade and discard remainder.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Arrange salmon fillets in the hot skillet, pour reserved marinade over the salmon, and place a lid on the skillet; cook until salmon is browned on each side and flakes easily with a fork, occasionally spooning liquid from the pan over the fillets, 2 to 3 minutes per side. Garnish salmon with additional sea salt and black pepper.

ROASTED SALMON GLAZED WITH BROWN SUGAR AND MUSTARD

Roasted Salmon Glazed With Brown Sugar and Mustard image

This is what we call around here a no-recipe recipe, the sort of meal you can cook once off a card and you'll know it by heart: salmon glazed with brown sugar and mustard. The preparation could not be simpler. Heat your oven to 400. Make a mixture of Dijon mustard and brown sugar to the degree of spicy-sweetness that pleases you. Salt and pepper the salmon fillets. Place them skin-side down on a lightly oiled, foil-lined baking sheet, slather the tops with the mustard and brown sugar glaze and slide them into the top half of your oven. They ought to be done in 12 minutes or so, and they pair beautifully with simple braised greens.

Tips:

  • Choose the right salmon. For this recipe, it's best to use a fatty salmon fillet, such as king or sockeye salmon. This will help the marinade and glaze adhere to the fish and give it a moist, flavorful texture.
  • Make sure the marinade is well-blended. The marinade is what gives the salmon its flavor, so it's important to make sure it's well-blended before adding the salmon. If the marinade is too thick, you can thin it out with a little water or olive oil.
  • Marinate the salmon for at least 30 minutes. The longer you marinate the salmon, the more flavor it will absorb. If you're short on time, you can marinate the salmon for as little as 30 minutes, but for the best results, marinate it for at least an hour or two.
  • Cook the salmon over medium heat. Cooking the salmon over medium heat will help to prevent it from drying out. If you cook the salmon over high heat, it will cook too quickly and the inside will be undercooked.
  • Glaze the salmon during the last few minutes of cooking. The glaze will help to add a sweet and sticky coating to the salmon and will also help to keep it moist. Be sure to brush the glaze on the salmon during the last few minutes of cooking so that it doesn't burn.

Conclusion:

This Alaskan-style salmon marinade and glaze is a delicious and easy way to cook salmon. The marinade infuses the salmon with flavor, while the glaze adds a sweet and sticky coating that will make your taste buds sing. Whether you're cooking for a special occasion or just a weeknight meal, this recipe is sure to please everyone at the table.
