AMARETTO SOUR BACI

Amaretto Sour Baci image

When I was a bartender people always commented that I made the best mixed drinks. One of my requested mixed drinks was my version of the Amaretto Sour. My "secret" was the addition of 7-Up which I think gave the drink a gentle fizz that broke up the syrupy sweetness of the drink. I usually made my own sour mix, which was nothing more then Country Time Lemonade (another "secret") or would mix lemon juice with some granulated sugar -- and shake vigorously. You can also use store bought sour mix.

AMARETTO SOUR

Combine amaretto, lemon, egg white and cherries with ice for a classic amaretto sour. A great cocktail to impress guests at a dinner party

Provided by Miriam Nice

Categories     Cocktails, Drink

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 5

200ml amaretto
3-4 lemons, juiced (you will need 120ml)
1 egg white
small jar or can of cherries in syrup
ice

Steps:

  • Put the amaretto, lemon juice, egg white and 4 tsp of the cherry syrup into a blender (you can also do this in a large cocktail shaker, you will just need to shake it very hard without adding any ice). Whizz up the mixture a few times at a high speed until it is pale and starting to increase in volume. If your blender is suitable for use with ice, add a few handfuls and pulse just twice more to chill the mixture. Alternatively, just stir in the ice until the outside of the jug feels cold. Pour into glasses and garnish with cherries to serve.

Tips:

  • Use fresh lemon juice: Fresh lemon juice provides a bright, citrusy flavor that enhances the other ingredients in the cocktail.
  • Chill your ingredients: Chilling the ingredients before shaking helps to create a smooth, refreshing cocktail.
  • Use a good quality Amaretto liqueur: The quality of the Amaretto liqueur you use will make a big difference in the flavor of the cocktail. Look for a liqueur that is smooth and has a rich almond flavor.
  • Garnish with a lemon twist: A lemon twist adds a pop of color and freshness to the cocktail. It also helps to release the citrus oils, which enhances the flavor of the drink.

Conclusion:

The Amaretto Sour is a classic cocktail that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With its sweet and sour flavor, the Amaretto Sour is sure to be a hit at your next party or gathering.
