SWEDISH APPLE PIE

Swedish Apple Pie image

I won 1st place in an apple bake-off contest with this recipe. It is the easiest and best apple pie I have ever tasted. It has no crust, believe me, it doesn't need one. I always use Granny Smith apples because they are the best apples for pies. Enjoy!!!!

SCRUMPTIOUS SWEDISH APPLE PIE

Scrumptious Swedish Apple Pie image

This doesn't have the typical pie crusts that Americans are used to. Instead, it is more like a coffee cake or cobbler. The batter is mixed with the apples and the whole mixture is baked in a pie plate. Much easier than a traditional crusted pie, and a nice change of pace with a delicious topping.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of apples: This will give your pie a more complex flavor and texture. Some good options include Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Braeburn apples.
  • Peel and slice the apples thinly: This will help them cook evenly and prevent them from becoming mushy.
  • Add a little sugar and spices to the apples: This will help to enhance their flavor and make them more delicious.
  • Use a good quality butter: This will give your pie a rich, flaky crust.
  • Roll out the dough thinly: This will help to ensure that the crust is crispy.
  • Bake the pie until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling: This will ensure that the pie is cooked through.
