BROCCOLI APPLE SALAD

Broccoli Apple Salad image

A good salad.

Provided by Eve Peterson

Categories     Fruit Salads

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/2 c mayonnaise
1 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp cider vinegar
1 1/2 c fresh broccoli florets
1/2 c seedless red grapes
1/4 c golden raisins
1/4 c chopped apple
1/4 c shredded cheddar cheese
1 Tbsp bacon bits

Steps:

  • 1. Whisk Mayo, sugar and vinegar in a small bowl, set aside. In a serving bowl, combine the remaining ingredients, drizzle with dressing, toss to coat. Chill until serving.

Tips:

  • Choose the right apples: Use firm, crisp apples that will hold their shape when tossed with the other ingredients. Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Braeburn are all good choices.
  • Shred the broccoli: You can use a box grater or a food processor to shred the broccoli. If using a food processor, be careful not to over-process it, or it will become too mushy.
  • Use a creamy dressing: A creamy dressing will help to hold the salad together and make it more flavorful. You can use a store-bought dressing or make your own. A simple dressing made with mayonnaise, sour cream, and a little bit of sugar is a good option.
  • Add some nuts or seeds: Nuts and seeds add a nice crunchy texture and flavor to the salad. Walnuts, almonds, and sunflower seeds are all good choices.
  • Serve immediately: Apple-broccoli salad is best served immediately after it is made. The apples will start to brown if they sit for too long.

Conclusion:

Apple-broccoli salad is a refreshing and healthy salad that is perfect for a summer picnic or potluck. It is made with crisp apples, broccoli, red onion, and a creamy dressing. The salad is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste. For example, you can add some dried cranberries or raisins for a bit of sweetness, or you can add some crumbled bacon for a savory flavor. Apple-broccoli salad is a delicious and nutritious salad that is sure to please everyone at your next gathering.
