1 large butternut squash ( cut into 1 nich cubes)
2 large tart cooking apples cut into 1/2-inch thick slices
1/2 c fresh or frozen cranberries
1/2 c brown sugar
1/4 c (half a stick) butter

1/2 tsp ground nutmeg or mace

  • 2. Put squash cubes in ungreased 7x11-inch baking dish. Place apples on top and then cranberries. Mix the flour, salt, sugar, and nutmeg and sprinkle on top. Dot with butter. Bake 50-60 minutes.

Tips:

  • Use Fresh Ingredients: Fresh fruits, especially apples and cranberries, will provide the best flavor and texture to your bake. Look for firm, brightly colored apples and plump, deep red cranberries.
  • Slice Apples Evenly: Slicing the apples evenly will help them cook evenly and prevent some pieces from becoming mushy while others remain hard. A sharp knife and a steady hand will give you the best results.
  • Don't Overcook the Cranberries: Cranberries can easily become too soft and mushy if overcooked. Stir them into the apple mixture just before baking to prevent this.
  • Use a Good Quality Oatmeal: The oatmeal in the topping adds a nice texture and flavor to the bake. Choose a high-quality oatmeal that is not too finely ground.
  • Serve Warm: This apple cranberry bake is best served warm. It can be enjoyed on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Conclusion:

This apple cranberry bake is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for fall gatherings. The combination of sweet apples, tart cranberries, and a crunchy oatmeal topping is sure to please everyone at your table. With its simple ingredients and delicious flavor, this bake is a must-try for any apple or cranberry lover.
