APPLE CRANBERRY CRISP

Apple Cranberry Crisp image

A delicious healthy crisp made from adjusting several pie and crisp recipes to suite my taste. I'm posting so I won't loose it. If you're not counting calories this is great with a scoop of ice cream. The ten-grain cereal along with the oats in the topping gives a nice crumbly taste and texture to the topping.

Pairing sweet apples, cranberry sauce, and the delicious crisp topping is a great breakfast dish or a different take on apple crisp for dessert. It's also great with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Tips for Making Apple Cranberry Crisp:

  • Use a variety of apples. This will give your crisp a more complex flavor and texture. Some good options include Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Braeburn.
  • Don't overcook the apples. You want them to be tender but still hold their shape.
  • Use fresh cranberries. Frozen cranberries can be used in a pinch, but fresh cranberries will give your crisp a brighter flavor.
  • Don't skimp on the butter. Butter adds richness and flavor to the crisp topping.
  • Use a combination of brown sugar and granulated sugar. Brown sugar adds a molasses-like flavor to the crisp, while granulated sugar helps to caramelize the topping.
  • Add some spices. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger are all good choices. You can also add a pinch of salt to balance out the sweetness of the crisp.
  • Bake the crisp until the topping is golden brown and bubbly.

Conclusion:

Apple cranberry crisp is a classic fall dessert that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With its sweet and tart apples, tangy cranberries, and buttery oat topping, this crisp is sure to be a hit at your next gathering. So next time you're looking for a delicious and easy dessert, give apple cranberry crisp a try.
