1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup flour
1 t. cinnamon
dash nutmeg
topping:
3/4 cup flour

  • Use a food processor to quickly and easily make the crumb topping.
  • If you don't have a food processor, you can use a pastry blender or two forks to cut the butter into the flour and sugar for the crumb topping.
  • Be sure to chill the pie dough before rolling it out. This will help to prevent the dough from shrinking and becoming tough.
  • If you don't have time to chill the pie dough, you can use a store-bought pie crust.
  • To prevent the pie from burning, place it on a baking sheet before baking.
  • If the edges of the pie crust start to brown too quickly, cover them with aluminum foil.
  • Let the pie cool for at least 1 hour before serving. This will allow the filling to set and the flavors to develop.
