APPLE BREAKFAST WEDGES

Apple Breakfast Wedges image

From Betty Crocker. Lovely recipe for a crisp fall morning. I don't use the syrup, because it is not my favorite thing. Sometimes I skip the whole bisquick thing and use a premade crust.

Categories     Breakfast

Time 43m

Yield 8 wedges, 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 medium cooking apples, peeled, thinly sliced (about 2 cups)
1/3 cup water
2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
1/2 cup original Bisquick baking mix
2 eggs
maple syrup (optional)

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400°F Generously grease 9-inch glass pie plate with shortening or cooking spray. In medium bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Add apples; toss to coat. Set aside.
  • In 2-quart saucepan, heat water and butter to boiling. Reduce heat to low. Add Bisquick mix; stir vigorously until mixture forms a ball. Remove from heat. Beat in eggs, one at a time; continue beating until smooth.
  • Spread batter in bottom of pie plate. Arrange apples on top to within 1 inch of edge of pie plate.
  • Bake about 23 minutes or until puffed and edges are golden brown. Serve immediately. Drizzle with syrup, if desired.

Tips:

  • Use fresh, ripe apples for the best flavor. Granny Smith apples are a good choice because they hold their shape well when cooked.
  • Don't overcook the apples. They should be tender but still have a little bit of bite to them.
  • Use a good quality vanilla extract. It will make a big difference in the flavor of the dish.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different spices. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger are all good options.
  • Serve the apple vanilla egg breakfast dessert immediately. It's best when it's hot and fresh out of the oven.

Conclusion:

Apple vanilla egg breakfast dessert is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that's perfect for a special occasion or a simple weeknight meal. The apples and vanilla give it a sweet and flavorful taste, while the eggs make it rich and creamy. This dish is sure to please everyone at the table.
