Tips:

  • Choose ripe, fresh fruits: Using ripe fruits ensures a sweeter and more flavorful crumble. Avoid fruits that are bruised or have blemishes.
  • Use a variety of fruits: This recipe calls for apricots, bananas, and apples, but you can use any combination of fruits you like. Some other good options include peaches, blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries.
  • Don't overmix the crumble topping: Overmixing will make the topping tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Use a combination of flours: All-purpose flour and almond flour create a crispy and flavorful topping. If you don't have almond flour, you can use all-purpose flour instead.
  • Add nuts or seeds for extra crunch: Chopped walnuts, pecans, or sunflower seeds add a nice crunch to the crumble topping. Stir nuts into topping mixture before sprinkling onto fruit.
