BACON WRAPPED DATES WITH BLUE CHEESE

Bacon Wrapped Dates with Blue Cheese image

Making Bacon Wrapped Dates with Blue Cheese is one of my favorite appetizers because it's easy to do and delicious to eat!

Provided by grilledcheesesocial

Number Of Ingredients 3

12 oz pack of Pitted Medjool Dates (about 20 large pitted dates)
1 lb thick cut bacon (cut in half)
4 oz Point Reyes Blue Cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375F. Line a baking sheet with tinfoil and place a cooling rack on top.
  • Cut the side of each date (being careful not to cut all the way through) and add a pinch of blue cheese and stuff it inside. Press the date back together and wrap each date with a half slice of bacon. If at all possible, try to keep the cheese cut-side facing up, with the bacon cut-side facing down. This will help keep the cheese from cooking out while also keeping the bacon wrapped around each date.
  • Bake for 20-30 minutes or until the bacon is cooked through. Remove from heat and let cook for 10 minutes.
  • **OPTIONAL** If you're making the bouquet - Skewer each bacon wrapped date and place them in a small vase. If you're having trouble with them slipping down, try to skewer it through the bacon as it's thick texture holds up the best.

BACON WRAPPED STUFFED DATES WITH BALSAMIC REDUCTION

Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Dates With Balsamic Reduction image

Sinfully delicious!! Salty and sweet, crispy and gooey!! Yum! Surprisingly easy and look fantastic. I had these at a restaurant and then went on a hunt to find a similar recipe. Found one online and tweaked it some. If you use thick cut bacon, par-cook it some before wrapping dates.

Categories     Bake     Quick & Easy     Parmesan     Date     Bacon     Gourmet

Yield Makes 6 hors d'oeuvre servings

Number Of Ingredients 5

18 (1- by 1/4-inch) sticks Parmigiano-Reggiano (from a 1/2-lb piece)
18 pitted dates (preferably Medjool)
6 bacon slices, cut crosswise into thirds
Special Equipment
18 wooden picks

Steps:

  • Put oven rack in middle position and preheat oven to 450°F.
  • Stuff 1 piece of cheese into each date, then wrap 1 piece of bacon around each date, securing it with a pick. Arrange dates 1 inch apart in a shallow baking pan.
  • Bake 5 minutes, then turn dates over with tongs and bake until bacon is crisp, 5 to 6 minutes more. Drain on a paper bag or parchment. Serve immediately.

Tips:

  • Choose the right dates. Medjool dates are the best choice for this recipe, as they are large and have a soft, chewy texture. Deglet Noor dates are also a good option.
  • Use good quality blue cheese. A sharp, flavorful blue cheese will give your dates the best flavor. Avoid using a mild or bland blue cheese.
  • Wrap the dates tightly with bacon. This will help to keep the filling from leaking out. You can use one or two pieces of bacon per date, depending on the size of the dates.
  • Cook the dates until the bacon is crispy. This will take about 10-12 minutes. You can cook the dates in the oven or on the stovetop.
  • Serve the dates warm or at room temperature. They can be served as an appetizer or a dessert.

Conclusion:

Bacon-wrapped dates stuffed with blue cheese are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or dessert. They are perfect for parties or potlucks.
