Time 10m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

2/3 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon light brown sugar
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon paprika
1 clove garlic, grated
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • For the marinade: Combine the ketchup, sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire, cumin, paprika, garlic, 1/2 teaspoon salt and a few turns of pepper in a large resealable plastic bag. Add 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts or 8 boneless skinless thighs (about 1 1/2 pounds), squeeze out the air, seal tightly and massage gently to coat the chicken with marinade. Refrigerate for 2 hours or freeze up to 1 month; defrost in the refrigerator overnight before cooking.
  • To cook: Remove the chicken from the bag and grill over indirect heat, covered, until cooked through, lightly charred and an instant-read thermometer registers 165 degrees F, 20 to 25 minutes.

EASY BBQ CHICKEN MARINADE

Easy Bbq Chicken Marinade image

Came up with this one on the fly. This quantity of ingredients will be sufficient marinade for 4 drumsticks. I like to use zipper-seal bags for marinating because the air can be removed so that the meat is surrounded by marinade, which means I can throw it into the fridge and forget about it until cooking time. I get a nice, even marinade on every piece without any extra fuss. Plus, it is one less dish to wash after.

My personal favourite recipe for barbecued chicken. I often serve chicken done this way with the rice from my Pork Chop Casserole (Recipe#174464). This recipe is enough to marinate 8 boneless skinless chicken breasts. (Cooking time is marinating and bbq-ing time)

KOREAN BBQ CHICKEN MARINADE

This sauce is from the very popular 'chicken bowls' in my hometown. It's very tasty! Use it as a marinade for chicken, or to baste chicken while grilling. Increase the hot chile paste as desired. Four tablespoons is usually as much as anyone can take!

TANGY CHICKEN BBQ MARINADE

TANGY CHICKEN BBQ MARINADE image

Categories     Chicken     Low Carb     Grill/Barbecue

Yield depends on how many chickens you cook

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 egg, well beaten
1/2 cup olive oil
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoons of salt
4 cloves of garlic, minced
2 tablespoons of the following fresh herbs, chopped fine:
rosemary
sage
parsley
thyme
1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Put cut up chicken in a deep bowl. Cover with marinade. Let the chicken marinade for up to 2 hours. Turn pieces ocassionally so that all pieces get evenly marinaded. Don't marinade for longer than 2 hours, because the chicken will get too tangy (unless you like really tangy chicken). Remove from the bowl when ready to grill, shaking off as much of the oil as you can. Grill on a BBQ over evenly hot coals, but watch for flaring because the oil dripping on the coals can cause a problem with that.

Tips:

  • Use a flavorful marinade: The key to great BBQ chicken is a flavorful marinade. Be sure to use a marinade that contains both acidic and oily ingredients, as this will help to tenderize the chicken and give it a delicious flavor.
  • Marinate the chicken for at least 30 minutes: The longer you marinate the chicken, the more flavor it will absorb. If you're short on time, you can marinate the chicken for as little as 30 minutes, but for best results, marinate it for at least 2 hours.
  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat: This will help to sear the chicken and prevent it from sticking to the grill.
  • Cook the chicken over indirect heat: This will help to prevent the chicken from drying out. If you're using a charcoal grill, place the chicken on the side of the grill opposite the coals. If you're using a gas grill, turn off the burner directly under the chicken.
  • Cook the chicken until it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit: You can check the internal temperature of the chicken using a meat thermometer.
  • Let the chicken rest for 5-10 minutes before serving: This will help the juices to redistribute throughout the chicken, making it more tender and flavorful.

Conclusion:

BBQ chicken is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. By following these tips, you can make sure that your BBQ chicken is cooked to perfection and packed with flavor.
