6 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon ground ginger
¾ teaspoon hot red pepper flakes
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
¼ cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons salt
1 pound penne pasta
8 ounces broccoli florets
1 pound rare deli roast beef, sliced 1/8 inch thick and cut into bite-size strips

½ cup chopped roasted (or honey-roasted) peanuts
¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro

Yield 6 - 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 9

grilled top round or skirt steak.
1 lb. box spiral pasta
steamed broccoli crowns
sliced red peppers
crumbled feta cheese
balsamic vinegarette
1 pint halfed grape tomatoes
pitted kalamata olives
sliced fresh basil leaves

Steps:

  • boil pasta el denté. Rinse in cold water set aside to drain. Slice steak on bias in thin slices. Combine all ingredients and refrigerate overnight

Tips:

  • Choose the right pasta: Short pastas, like penne or rotini, are ideal for this salad because they can hold the dressing well. Avoid long, thin pastas, like spaghetti or linguine, as they can be difficult to eat in a salad.
  • Cook the pasta al dente: This means cooking the pasta until it is tender but still has a slight bite to it. Overcooked pasta will be mushy and won't hold the dressing as well.
  • Use a flavorful dressing: The dressing is what really makes this salad shine, so don't skimp on the ingredients. Use a good quality olive oil, vinegar, and herbs. You can also add other ingredients to the dressing, such as mustard, honey, or garlic.
  • Don't overdress the salad: A little dressing goes a long way. You want the salad to be moist, but not soggy.
  • Add some protein: Beef is the traditional protein for this salad, but you can also use other proteins, such as chicken, turkey, or tofu.
  • Add some vegetables: Vegetables add color, crunch, and nutrients to the salad. Use your favorite vegetables, such as tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, or carrots.
  • Chill the salad before serving: This will help the flavors to meld and the salad will be more refreshing.
