Tips:

  • Choose the right apples: For the best flavor, use a variety of apples, such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Gala. Look for firm, unblemished apples that are free of bruises or rot.
  • Peel and core the apples: Peeling and coring the apples will help to remove any unwanted flavors or textures from the applesauce. You can use a vegetable peeler and a melon baller to make this process easier.
  • Add some spices: A variety of spices can be added to applesauce to enhance its flavor. Popular choices include cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. You can also add a bit of lemon juice or orange zest for a brighter flavor.
  • Cook the applesauce on low heat: Cooking the applesauce on low heat will help to prevent it from burning or sticking to the bottom of the slow cooker. Stir the applesauce occasionally to ensure that it cooks evenly.
  • Use a food processor or blender: Once the applesauce is cooked, you can use a food processor or blender to puree it until it reaches the desired consistency. If you prefer a chunky applesauce, you can leave some of the applesauce unblended.
