SPICY DRUNKEN SHRIMP

This is a warm peel-and-eat shrimp recipe that I tried to duplicate from a little bar-and-grill in Deland, Florida. The shrimp are boiled in a spicy beer and thyme broth and served hot in a beer mug. Serve with dipping sauces of lemon-butter and hot sauce. I dip first in lemon-butter and then hot sauce, but you will find what works best for you! You will need plenty of paper towels!

Tips:

  • Prepare the shrimp properly: Devein and peel the shrimp, leaving the tails intact for a more visually appealing dish.
  • Use a flavorful marinade: The combination of soy sauce, rice wine, garlic, ginger, and Sriracha adds a delicious depth of flavor to the shrimp.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: Cook the shrimp in batches to ensure that they are evenly seared and cooked through.
  • Use a high-quality cooking oil: A high smoke point oil, such as grapeseed or avocado oil, will prevent the oil from burning and smoking.
  • Add the vegetables towards the end of cooking: This will prevent them from becoming overcooked and mushy.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs: Cilantro, green onions, or basil add a pop of color and freshness to the dish.

Conclusion:

Big Ray's Spicy Drunken Shrimp is a tantalizing dish that combines the bold flavors of Sichuan cuisine with the convenience of a quick and easy stir-fry.
