Tips:

  • Use fresh, ripe tomatoes: This will give your sauce the best flavor. If you can't find fresh tomatoes, you can use canned tomatoes, but make sure they are high-quality and packed in a BPA-free can.
  • Don't skimp on the garlic and onions: These are essential ingredients for a flavorful marinara sauce. Use at least 2 cloves of garlic and 1/2 onion per pound of tomatoes.
  • Simmer the sauce for a long time: This will allow the flavors to meld and develop. Simmer the sauce for at least 30 minutes, or longer if you have time.
  • Add a little bit of sugar: This will help to balance out the acidity of the tomatoes. Use about 1 teaspoon of sugar per pound of tomatoes.
  • Season the sauce to taste: Add salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning to taste. You can also add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little bit of heat.

Conclusion:

Marinara sauce is a versatile sauce that can be used on a variety of dishes, from pasta to pizza to chicken. It's also a great way to use up fresh tomatoes. With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make a delicious marinara sauce that will impress your family and friends.
